The options for a parent/guardian managing one or more child accounts is as follows:

There are two options;

  1. Maintain a single account in the parents name and use the 'display name' field to ensure the child's name appears on entrants lists, race results and point-scores. (recommended)
  2. Maintain a separate account for each child.

Option One

The parent registers and uses their account. They use this account to maintain the boat(s), make and manage all their children's entries, and their own personal sailing administration if required.

Once an entry is completed, the parent can complete the ‘display name’ field with the child's name so that the child's name appears on the results. Here is a link on how to do this - https://sailsys.tawk.help/article/managing-skippers

Option Two

If the parent chooses to apply the child as the series/race skipper and create an account for them, then we suggest adding the parent’s mobile to the child’s account. If the child does not have an email address, then we advise the parent to use the syntax [email protected] as a dummy/pseudo email, it can be updated in the future.

Note that using option one, the "display name" field, does not require these extra steps. Much easier!

The benefit of this strategy is that the parent only has to log in once and remains logged in as themselves, no swapping accounts. They can manage both their own and the child's sailing admin from one account. They receive both emails and SMSs relevant to their child's entries and their own.
