CREW: I recently received an invite to a boat for crewing, what's all that about?

Congrats! Someone added you to their Crew Register.

Skippers might be asked to submit Crew Lists for races they participate in at their Club.

If you received an invite, they have likely added you to their Crew Register (like an address book) so that they can select you for future races.

Once upon a time your Skipper had to enter all your details manually so that the Club would know who was sailing. Now you can help your Skipper out by ensuring that your information is current and accurate, but importantly you have complete control over your own data.

Creating an account requires very little info, Name and Email.

However, to have what is deemed a "complete" profile, the vast majority of clubs require; Name, Email, Mobile and Emergency Contact.

Ah... but what about my data, we hear you say. You can rest assured that we care as much (if not more) about its security as you do. If you would like to know a little more about the lengths we go to, then you can read up in the section called "Security."

The bottom line is that the sport we love is changing. Increasingly Clubs want and need to know who is on the water. By maintaining some essential information in your SailSys profile, you are helping your Skipper and assisting the Club in their compliance requirements.
