What are the Upper and Lower Limits?

The limits regulate the data that is committed to the boat's series record. i.e. the rTCF that is recorded to then play a role in calculating the next handicap.

Say these were set to 4% for the lower and 4% for the upper. This means that if a boat starts on a handicap of say 1.000 and sails very well, resulting in an rTCF of say 1.0450, this is more than 4% above their starting handicap. This boat would be deemed to have breached the upper limit. The math is the same on the lower limit.

If a breach occurs, then the rTCF committed to the underlying record is 'capped' at the limit, depending on the settings that the club has used.

In the above example, an rTCF of 1.0400 would be committed to the underlying record for that race.
